IBISIran Bioinformatics Society was formed with the aim of bringing together professors, researchers and students interested in bioinformatics. Bioinformatics has been created as an interdisciplinary science with the aim of studying biological systems at the cellular and molecular level using computational models and methods. Among the main goals of this association is the study, development and expansion of bioinformatics knowledge in universities and scientific and research centers.
With the formation of the human genome project in the late 1980s and the determination of the complete sequence of the human genome in 2003, a huge amount of data was obtained that requires processing and analysis by computers and computer algorithms in the coming years. Today, the process of data processing has been moved from the collection and storage of information to new scientific discoveries in the unknown field of biological science and has led to the creation of a new multifaceted knowledge called bioinformatics.
In today’s world, bioinformatics is very important and has been ranked high in the labor market and research, so that many experts have named this science as the key knowledge of the 21st century. Thus, due to the novelty of this scientific branch and its high growth rate in the world, the Bioinformatics Association of Iran was established in 2005 in order to expand, promote and promote this knowledge in Iran.
After the grand election in the General Assembly on March 2, 2005, with the presence of the attached members, Iran Bioinformatics Association is proud to introduce the new members of its board of directors and inspectors:
